10 things to bring to a deserted island

A blog by Makeitup - The Agency

Have you ever gotten that question: what would you bring if you were to be stranded on a deserted island? I know the answer to that question. Every Summer I go to a small island in Stockholm’s archipelago: no people, no traffic, just wild nature and stillness. Here are a few things that always make it into my bag:

1. A pair of rubber boots. Swedish Summer weather can be tricky. A pair of rubber boots can come in handy when you want to make it through that wild nature.

2. A big scarf. Perfect to lie on while you’re sun bathing. Or why not tie it around your hips and wear it as a skirt?

3. Sun cream. I always wear sun cream, even though it’s a bit cloudy. When you’re spending the whole day outside you have to protect your skin.

4. A pair of sunglasses. Squinting my eyes gives me a headache. Ray Bans are such classics and they are always in my bag if the sun would come out.

5. Jeans shorts. My go to summer clothing. You don’t have to worry about getting stains or scratches. They just look better the more you wear them.

6. A bathing suit. Wear it with your jeans shorts or when you’re going for a dip. So practical!

7. A good book. Pernille Teisbaek is a Danish street style star. I’m really looking forward reading her book on Scandinavian Style.

8. Flip flopsFlip flops. So easy to slip on and they protect your feet from hot sand or steaming cliffs.

9. A warm sweater. For those cozy evenings when you’re watching the sunset. Long sleeves keep you warm and protect you against those annoying mosquitos.

10. Dry shampoo. At the island you don’t want to spend that precious drinking water on long showers. Dry shampoo is quick way to freshen up between washes.
